As we mentioned above, using a network layout with a hub and monitoring computer outside of the router may pose a security problem unless the computer works in receive-only mode. The ultimate solution to this problem suggested by some people would be a read-only Ethernet cable that can be made with CAT5 cable, two RJ-45 connectors, and a crimping tool.
